September 17, 2010 — The Canadian Eventing Committee has named Colombo as the Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month for August.
Colombo, ridden by O’Hanlon, of Elgin, ON and co-owned by Elaine and Michael Davies of Kingston, ON, finished first in the CIC 3* division at the Richland Park Horse Trials, held August 26-29, in Richland, MI.

Colombo and O’Hanlon were tied for third following the dressage test, scoring 50.80. A fault-free performance on cross country over the Ian Stark designed course kept the pair in third spot heading in to show jumping. They navigated Richard Jeffrey’s jumping course without a fault and completed as the only pair in the CIC 3* division to finish on their dressage score.

“Colombo's success is due to the efforts of his fantastic team of Selena and her mother, Morag O'Hanlon; his groom, Pam Nunn; home vet, Mark Rutherford; and the team coach, vets, farriers and the other therapists who have kept him sound and happy at this age and level,” said Elaine Davies of her 15-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding. “It means the culmination of hours of dedication, hard work and sacrifices on the part of Morag and Selena who recognized his potential, and had the horse savvy to bring out the best in him. We look forward to cheering on our Canadian Team members at the WEG, and wish them all the very best.”

Canadian Eventing created the horse recognition program to celebrate the achievements of Canadian owned horses that represent Canada in North American competition. Canadian Eventing is also very pleased to have Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals’ generous support of this horse recognition program. Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals will be providing each owner of the Horse of the Month with a generous gift certificate of $200 credit towards the purchase of Omega Alpha products of their choice.
